Dan O'Connor has been teaching improv and acting since 1986. He was a co-founder of BATS and Impro Theatre (formerly LA Theatresports) as well as being the inagural coach and co-founder of San Diego and Palm Springs Theatresports and We Could Be Heroes Improv of Austin Texas.
He has taught classes for Ventura Theatresports and BATS since 1990. Dan's long association with Theatresports groups and the work of Keith Johnstone has afforded him the opportunity to teach around the country and around the world. He has taught and directed at festivals and theatre companies such as Kansas City's Lighten Up Festival, Yesand in New York City, Impro Melbourne, Sydney, London and Auckland Theatresports, The Austin Comedy Festivals BS2,3 and 4, Out of Bounds in Austin, Out of Bounds West in Santa Monica, The Spontaniety Shop in London. Dan has been an adjuct professor for USC's BFA Program and a guest lecturer for the McCoombs School of Buiness MBA Program at the University of Texas Austin. He taught "Writing on your feet: Improv for Writers" for 6 years at the Writers Program at the UCLA extension with noted playwright and sit-com writer Ellen Byron. He has been a guest instructor at Pepperdine, USC, Duke University and the MBA program at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas-Austin.
Recently he has taught the Cirque du Soleil casts of Corteo and Saltimbanco. And soon will work with Kooza and Zumanity.
